Handmade Diwali Card with Distress Inks

Hi everyone. I am sure everyone is soaking in the festive fervor and so am I... all the colorful things around inspire me create to some quick and bright diwali cards.

I made this card using Wild honey DI. I have stamped the doily design using DI. The doily print is not perfect and it rather resembles a sunburst or halo effect. This is the kind of effect I was looking for. I have used stickers from Pie Lane on these circles and the smaller ones are from Hobby ideas. The sentiment sticker is a local buy.

Hi folks. Here is a quick post to share a card I made particularly for Sindhu's challenge.
Its a Black and White Anniversary Card. The sentiment is a digi. The couple silhouette is from internet. I traced it and handcut it. The black and white border is from Itsy Bitsy. I have added some lace below the border to add a touch of elegance.

    Quilled Name Plate - Angak

This is another quilled name plate that I made on order recently. Since it is for a boy, the color palette is mainly blue. I didn't want to keep it simple and straight forward so I have overlapped the alphabets and arranged in this manner.

The work is this name plate is very minute and it took me more time to create this as compared to other one I made for NAVIKA

     Few close-ups...

    Quilled Name Plate - NAVIKA

Hi friends! I am very excited to share this Quilled Name Plate that I made on order. I had very little time in hand to finish this owing to work and festivities, but I am glad I could deliver it on time.

Though I have made many Name plates for kids in past, this was my first quilled name plate for a kid. I had made one quilled name plate for a couple using bee hive technique. But I have tried this type of quilling technique for the first time. I would like to thank few bloggers whose work inspired me.

So here goes the Quilled Name Plate for baby Navika.

    Accordian Card

Hi friends. I made this accordian card for my mom dad's anniversary. It is inspired by 2 cards: Isha's card at Lulupu and Monica Jot's Card .I absolutely love their style and work.
The pictures were taken in a hurry and they do not reflect the real colors and beauty of the card. I have distressed the papers with broken china and peacock feathers ink and it looks very nice when you see it in real. For pink, I have used worn lipstick distress ink.

There are many layers on the front side of the card. First is the PP, then die-cut, silver net and then the die-cut rose image.

A close-up of the roses. This is from Lucy Cornwell's paper pack [Love it!!] I applied a bit of silver stickles on them for a shimmery look. The paper pack and diecuts are from Nupur's store.

Here is an inside view of the card. The sentiment stamps are from Fiskars.

    Magic Explosion Box - Cake

Hi everyone! I am back with a brand new post today and some happy news!

This is an explosion box that I made few days back. It's a pretty pink box with a cute cake inside. What's interesting about the cake is that the base is a platic scoop that comes with milk/protein powder boxes. I just cut off the handle and covered it neatly with fabric lace, plastic lace and embellished it with fabric roses and pearls/crystals. Easy peasy, isn't it? :)

Upcycled Liquor Box into Gift Box

It's been a long time I made an upcycled project, and something like this had been on my mind since a long time. So I got my hands on a liquor bottle cover.. and converted it into a pretty keepsake/gift box. You can view my other recycled projects here and my recycled project tutorials here.

I have used pattern paper from Papermania pack, MS Swirling Lace Punch, pearls, punched flowers, leaves, roses from Nupur's store and the big bloom is made by me out of handmade paper. The sentiment is stamped and embossed using zing embossing powder from Crafters Corner that I won as winner of a challenge.

I have lined the upper edge of the lid with brown paper to give it a finished look. It closes sits snugly on the lower lid and to keep it in place I have used velcro dots beneath the straps [see pic2].

I filled it with some {yes, some.... i have loads of it ;)} of my junk jewellery..... that necklace peeking out was a RAK from Ekta Maker.

A view from the rear side...

The floral arrangement sitting pretty on my shabby chic box..

The big bloom is made out of a handmade paper carry bag of a hospital. I loved the texture of this paper bag and I tore it apart to make these pretty flowers :)

    Side view of the box...

    Behind the scene pics...

    Recycled stuff used here is:
    Liquor box for base
    Net from old couier envelope
Flower made of paper bag handmade paper
Old broken jewellery piece as a charm, next to brad

    DIY Flower Basket

Hey guys. I am very happy to share this project with you that I made on order last week.
All the flowers and leaves are handmade by me. My client wanted to gift this to her husband on his birthday, and the feedback in her own words was.... " Your card and basket made my day"!!  So does mine :) .... the appreciation we get for our hardwork is the true fruit of our labour.

As you can see, there is an assortment of flowers... daisies, carnations in two sizes and some fillers. I didn't have big leaves to match the flowers, so I decided to make them on my own. I handcut white CS in mixed shapes and sizes and colored them using distress inks. I loved the natural shaded effect with distress inks.

Here is an overhead view of the basket..

Edited: The basket is upcycled. It was a chocolate bouquet as you can see in the picture below. I removed all the laces and raised the handle of the basket which was orgininally glued down here. I have also used the long sticks on which the chocolates were mounted, to stem the flowers. For the small blue daisies, I used my old semi-dried nail polish to color them.

    DIY Flower with Handmade paper

Hi everyone. I received many messages to share the tutorials of the flowers that I made recently. I will try to make more tutorials, but as of now I a sharing one simple flower tute. The best thing about this is that you can make it with basic tools and vary the size as per requirement.

I had used a similar flower in one of my cards here.

I have detailed out everything in the pictorial below. In case you have any questions, please leave a comment below.

Hope you like the tute. Do let me know if you try it.

Black and White Card with Yellow Flowers

I love trying new color combinations. And I was bored with the usual reds, pinks, etc. so I started out with a black card base. That set the ball rolling.... Then I used Black and White PPs to create the bg. I wanted to have a sentiment as the focus for my card. This sentiment is from the stamp set TPC Playful expressions.

I made the flowers using this rose flower template from the net. I traced and cut out these flowers on white handmade paper. Then I colored them using Wild Honey Distress Inks. The light and dark grey leaves are cut out from an ad pamphlet. I colored the seam binding ribbon with the same ink to match the flowers.

Here's a look at my card....

I love the contrast of B/W with yellow and also the way these cute flowers look!!
