Mega Celebration 2014 Event 7 - People BINGO Answers and Winner

Hello everyone! This brings me to the last winner announcement for my game events. The winners of the Giveaway and the Challenge will be announced after 25th December. You can join in both these events till midnight, 25 Dec 2014.

Here is the answer to the Mega Celebration 2014 Event 7 - People BINGO. For the BINGO I mostly chose people who have been around in the blogging scene since quite a while and I assume that we all know them pretty well. Some of the answers might be subjective, so what I did is that I chose the person whom maximum people thought was the correct person for that trait in BINGO. For e.g. If 10 people said Dr. Sonia is the recyling expert, then I take that as the right answer.

1. Crafter turned Baker - Ekta Maker
2. Vintage/Shabby Chic Queen - Mallika Kejriwal
3. Former Air hostess - Pooja Khupse
4. Recycling expert - Sonia S V
5. Penchant for Butterflies - Tejal Shah
6. Former DT at Heart Felt Creations - Ujjwal Gupta
7. Everyone's favorite - Hussena Calcuttawala
8. Recently started blogging - Neha Bhatt
9. Scientist, Avid Quiller - Pritesh Ananth Krishnan
10. CAS Queen - Sindu Jay
11. Face of Itsy Bitsy - Sunehra Koshy
12. Loves to draw her own images - Deepti Stephens

So the lucky winner of this game who stands to win these awesome set of goodies worth Rs 1000/ from Rainbow Craftykari store is......

Vijaylaxmi Siyal 'Shalu'
She sent her answer on 15 December at 12.49 pm.

Hello and welcome to Mega Celebration 2014 Event 4 - Guest Tutorial.

But before we get on to the tutorial, let me remind you about my previous events. The Blog Giveaway and Challenge are open till midnight, 25th December 2014. You also still have time till midnight today, to send in your answers for the Craft Brands Word Search.

There are fabulous prizes and gift vouchers to be won!! So don't miss a chance to participate in the events.

Moving on to my next event which is a Guest Tutorial....

You must have read about my event 2 - Challenge and also seen the beautiful inspiration by Juhi. So in continuation to that, we have a tutorial on creating a card inspired by hennah elements.

I am very delighted to have a talented crafter Sindhu, sharing her tutorial in my blog celebration event...

Over to her....

Hello everyone!

It’s Sindhu here from Trapped in Craft. I started paper crafting over two years ago and I’m as much in love with it as I was when I had started. I’m basically a card maker with a love for all things clean and simple. (My card show cased here is not simple! :)  I’m currently in Hyderabad enjoying the role of a homemaker!

Before I show you what I made, I would like to thank Indira a lot for inviting me to be one of the guests as a part of her celebrations. I’m so honoured you thought about me, Indira and I wish you all the best for the future! May you celebrate many more occasions like this one!

I am sure you all are enjoying the events being hosted on the blog. It’s my turn to share something with you today and I decided to share a fun technique called ‘Spotlighting’ that I saw on the Pinterest!
Here is what I made-

Supplies used-  (It really doesn’t matter if you don’t have even a single supply in the list mentioned below! :))
1.       Altenew ‘Hennah Elements’ stamp set
2.       Mama Elephant ‘Femme Frames’ die set
3.       Winnie and Walter’s ‘The Big, The Bold and The Happy’ stamp set.
4.       Card stock
5.       Prisma Colored Pencils and Gamsol for blending
Here’s the picture tutorial-
1. First, die cut pink colour card stock with the scallop die.
2. Cut a piece of white card stock with the stitched rectangle die.
3. Mask the edges of stitched die cut with washi tape to prevent stamping on the faux stitched area.
4. Randomly stamp the whole card stock with different stamps from the same stamp set.
5. Cut a portion of the image you want to highlight with the help of your trimmer or craft knife.

6. Colour the cut portion with coloured pencils.

7. Layer the coloured piece with a piece of pink colour card stock (This step is optional).

8. On the card base, adhere the scallop layer, then the stamped panel.

9. Adhere the coloured portion exactly from where it was originally cut from. (This is a very important step and take your time to get it right.)

10. Finish the card with a sentiment.

You are done! Isn’t it simple? :D
Now for those, who don’t have any of the supplies mentioned in the supply list.
1. Stamps- You don’t have the stamp I used here? Not to worry! You could use just any stamp in your stash. You don’t have stamps at all? No problem! Draw an image yourself. :) You can’t draw? Ahem, Please learn to draw! Are you like me? Then I’m sure you aren’t even capable of drawing stuff even after practicing. In that case, there are always digital images available for sale. Go buy one, print it out and proceed to the next step!
2. Don’t own a die cutting machine? Well… Not everyone does, right? But this shouldn’t deter you from trying this technique. Do you have that inexpensive pinking scissors? Or any decorative edge scissors? Yes, now we are talking!
3. What about the Prisma colored pencils and gamsol you ask? Well, aren’t there any other colouring media in the whole wide world? You could use just anything you’ve got on hand- Water colour pencils, water colour paints (also distress inks, distress markers or Copics (Drooling over the word ‘Copics’, I don’t own any, you see! :))) Here is a link to Tejal's post where she has mentioned some very good alternatives for blending.
4. Don’t have the big, bold sentiment stamp? Do you have a good hand writing? If you do, go ahead and write down the sentiment you want on a piece of vellum with a permanent marker. But I don’t know if permanent markers that we get in the stationary store work with vellum. You could also get the sentiment printed on vellum. I did it many times in the past and it works.
Now that I have given you all the inexpensive substitutes, you are not supposed to give me any excuses! Try this technique, it’s so much fun!
I hope you like the tutorial and the card…
Love…
Sindhu

Whoa!! I am still drooling over this gorgeous card!! And I can't wait to try out this technique soon! Thanks so much Sindhu for this wonderful tutorial and for taking so much effort to share this in such a short span of time. Really appreciate your efforts!

I hope you all enjoyed this tutorial as much as I did. Awaiting your entries for my event 2- Challenge...

Have fun and stay tuned for the next event!

Mega Celebration 2014 Event 2 - Challenge

Hello and welcome to Mega Celebration 2014 Event 2 - Challenge.
Hope you have registered for the first event - Blog Giveaway. The giveaway is open till midnight, 25th December 2014.

As part of the second event I have a challenge for you. The guidelines for the same are mentioned in the later part of the post. But before that, let me introduce to the lady who actually doesn't need any introduction..... Juhi Khanna!!

Juhi has obliged me by being the guest judge of this contest and she also has a card to inspire you all. I also have another secret judge who, along with Juhi and me, will help pick up the winner of this challenge.

Over to Juhi....

"Hello everyone, I’m Juhi from Juhi’s Handmade cards. First up, I would like to thank Indira for having me here, I am truly honoured.
I have been making cards since 2009, though not so regularly since my daughter was born in December 2011. She’s almost 3 now, which means I get some more time to craft. I must say, my card making skills are a bit rusted and I am still trying to catch up on the latest tools and techniques. My card features my favourite paisley stamp with good old stamping and heat embossing."

Now isn't that a perfect beauty!! I so love this card! Thanks a lot Juhi for inspiring us!!

What is the Challenge about & Rules to be followed:
1. You need to create a card inspired from Indian motifs (e.g. rangoli patterns, paisleys, mandalas, mehandi designs, etc.)
2. The twist is to not only create the card, but also POST it to the person above you in the Linky.
3. Get in touch with the person above your name in the linky, obtain their postal address and send the card to her before 30 Dec 2014. Linky is open till 25th Dec.
4. Send me a confirmation email at indira.bhullar@gmail.com after your partner receives your card. Only then you will be eligible to win.
5. You are allowed to enter the contest only ONCE.
6. You may combine it with ANY number of challenges.
7. Don't forget to link back to this challenge post.

The thought behind this challenge is to explore the beauty of our Indian traditional designs/patterns and use them in our work. Also, most of us are so busy creating cards/projects, but do we actually take out time to post them to the ones we love or in this case send it to the fellow bloggers with whom we interact so much? So, here is a great chance to bond with our fellow crafters by sending them a cute card with a sweet New Year Wish. This doesn't mean that the theme of the card should be New Year. You may take care not to create bulky cards, so that posting them is easy. Hope, it doesn't souns too complicated :)

EDITED: You need to send your card to the person whose name appears above your name in the Linky tool. In case you are the first to link up, you will have to send your card to the last person linking up on 25th Dec. To make things clearer, I will update here to whom you need to send your card, as and when we get entries in the Linky...

Handmade Christmas Card 2014 - Design 10

Hello. Hope you have enjoyed my series of holiday cards. This is my last card in the series. You can view my other Christmas cards here

This card is inspired by another great artist whom I admire a lot - Kittie Caracciolo. I love her distinct style and the way she sticks to the same elements but creates such wonderfully different cards each time is so commendable.

The fun part about this card is that though it is a Holiday card, yet the colors are non-traditional. You will seldom see a pink poinsettia. The flower petals and leaves are all handcut.

Thanks for visiting!

Handmade Christmas Card 2014 - Design 9

Hello and welcome to my series of Christmas cards for the year 2014. This is my ninth card and this time I have made a set of cards. You may like to view all my Christmas cards here.

I have had this set of handcut stencils with me since I was in school. My friend owned the original stencils which she got along with an imported craft book. I traced and handcut them to create a copy for myself. Since they are cut in paper, they are quite fragile and I can't do much with them. I love these designs and I have been thinking of cutting another set with a transparency... huh if time permits :)

I have used distress inks to color my cards. They've not the best of cards and not too neat too, but still I love them :)

Thanks for visiting!
