Handmade Diwali Cards 2014 - Design 1

I managed to sneak in some time to make some Diwali cards. I have been super busy with my little one, and I could make few Diwali cards while he was taking a nap.

I have used my favorite Ganesh stencil from Itsy Bitsy. It's so easy to make festive cards using this. I just had to take out my distress inks and dab over the stencil. The sentiment is computer generated. The bright colored card stock adds to the festive look.

This is the stencil that I used for the card. For my other Diwali cards, visit here.

Rakhi card

Hi guys! Sharing a Rakhi card I made on order for a friend in office. He wanted a card for his sister.
He wanted a special fold card, so I tried a pocket card with an insert for the first time, and was quite satisfied with the result. And yeah I tried these type of punched flowers also for the first time. My colleagues just loved it. Please let me know how you like it.
Kindly bear with a lot of pics here :)

Supplies: The card stock and DP are from hobby ideas. The centre tag on which the flowers are mounted is an old price tag. The green string is from a local stationery store.

Handmade flower card

This is another card I made using my handmade flowers. In case you missed my other card made using the same flower, do visit this link.
I have kept the card pretty simple. The shaped background is hand-cut from an old calendar. I used punched flowers and some of my potpouri as embellies.

Do let me know how you like the card. Love to hear from you!

I entered this card in the following challenge:

Quilled leaves

Hey guys! Today is the longest day of the year. This phenomenon is called 'Summer Solstice' and indicates the peak of the summer season. :)
So since I have a longer day at hand, why not share a card I made recently! The fun was to make so many quilled leaves (the max I made at one go for a single card). I liked the various shades of green used for the leaves :)

Quilled roses

This card was made in a jiffy. I just had all the right things in front of me at the right time!! The cut-out that you see here is actually taken from a wedding card. It blended really well with the cardstock. I had the roses in my toolbox and all that was needed wast to put all of them together :) If you note carefully the border is made out of the small cutouts from a border punch that we usually discard.

Colorful Quilled Card

Hey guys! Posting a card that I made few days back. I have quite a lot of stuff lined up to be shared on the blog.
Will put up one by one......  :)
This background btw is also a clothing tag. I really love the colors. I just started off with this without anything particular in mind. I guess the end product is looking quite cool :) Wat say?

Quilled roses card

Hello everyone! A new day and a new card.
The contest was to CASE a card. Casing means copying the main theme and the layout of the original card, other things like colors, design papers and embellishments can be different as it is not possible to use the same products.

The inspiration was none other than Kavitha's card. Here is my card based on the same theme.

Update: I was chosen among the top 3 designers for the Inspirational Challenge at Kavitha's blog. For details, click here.

A closer look.....

Green day!

Hey there! Here is my post for this weekend........ I think this is becoming a norm for me as I am more or less posting only on weekends. But I mostly post 2 to 3 cards made using a similar technique yet disparate from each other.
For the cards below I used green cardstock (a color I have never used earlier). I used my border punch to create 2 differnt types of backgrounds, and for embellishing I used my quilled flowers that I had in stock.

Happy Viewing!

Sunshine card

I call this card the sunshine card because of the colors. The semicircle gives a feeling of the sun and the bright orange and yellow quilled flowers make up for the colors of the sun. I am really loving the way it came up !
This card also goes to MOJO MONDAY 185 contest as they don't have any limitation on the no. of cards you can enter. Go check them out!
