Handmade Christmas Card 2014 - Design 10

Hello. Hope you have enjoyed my series of holiday cards. This is my last card in the series. You can view my other Christmas cards here

This card is inspired by another great artist whom I admire a lot - Kittie Caracciolo. I love her distinct style and the way she sticks to the same elements but creates such wonderfully different cards each time is so commendable.

The fun part about this card is that though it is a Holiday card, yet the colors are non-traditional. You will seldom see a pink poinsettia. The flower petals and leaves are all handcut.

Handmade Christmas Card 2014 - Design 9

Hello and welcome to my series of Christmas cards for the year 2014. This is my ninth card and this time I have made a set of cards. You may like to view all my Christmas cards here.

I have had this set of handcut stencils with me since I was in school. My friend owned the original stencils which she got along with an imported craft book. I traced and handcut them to create a copy for myself. Since they are cut in paper, they are quite fragile and I can't do much with them. I love these designs and I have been thinking of cutting another set with a transparency... huh if time permits :)

I have used distress inks to color my cards. They've not the best of cards and not too neat too, but still I love them :)

Handmade Christmas Card 2014 - Design 8

Hello. Here is my seventh Christmas Card for the year 2014. You can view my other Christmas cards here.

This card is inspired by the various Holiday scene cards that we see around. I wanted to try out the window scene with the moon and the hill in the background. The moon is made by punching a silver glitter paper with a round punch. The bg is distressed using distress inks. I made my own template for the hill effect. The small hut is also handcut. I added white borders to give it a snowy look.

At last, I added a mistletoe using punched holly leaves and a stamped bauble. The sentiment and bauble is from Penny Black stamp set, also used in my other Christmas cards here.

Handmade Christmas Card 2014 - Design 7

Hello and welcome to my series of Christmas cards for the year 2014. This is my sixth card. You may like to view all my Christmas cards here.

The technique used to stamp the Xmas tree is similar to the one I shared here. Only difference is, instead of mounting only two stamps, and repeating the same pattern, I mounted a variety of stamps on the acrylic block, around the central sentiment. The outlining was done separately using a border stamp. To give a twist to the normal stem, I stamped three words in order of their size, to build the stem.

For added interest, I made the hill with distress inks, and tried out bokeh stamping with my pencil eraser using distress inks. And Oh I love this bokeh look!! I am going to try it out more....

Handmade Christmas Card 2014 - Design 6

Hello. Here is my sixth Christmas Card for the year 2014. You can view my other Christmas cards here

The ornaments are from Penny Black stamp set. I stamped them on a light colored pattern paper that had small snowflake design on it. This way I didn't have to bother to color the baubles. The sentiment is also from the same set. The tiny Xmas sticker is from Pie Lane. The snowflake stickers are from my stash.

Below is the Penny Black stamp set that I used for my card.

Handmade Christmas Card 2014 - Design 5

Hello and welcome to my series of Christmas cards for the year 2014. This is my fifth card. You may like to view all my Christmas cards here.

I have CASEd Jennifer Mcguire's card. I really loved this technique and wanted to try it out. Though I did not have similar stamps that she used, I made the card with whatever I had with me. Hope I did some justice to her pretty card.

The sentiment is from Penny Black stamp set.

And for embossing the Xmas trees I used the We R Memory Keepers' border stamp from Itsy Bitsy.

Handmade Christmas Card 2014 - Design 4

Hello. Here is my fourth Christmas Card for the year 2014. You can view my other Christmas cards here.

What's special about this CAS card is that I have used a totally unrelated stamp to make the Xmas tree.

I used two scroll stamps and mounted them side by side on the acrylic block.

Then I cut out a tree shaped stencil and stamped over it.

Hope you like my simple experiment to use stamps in a more creartive way.
Thanks for visiting.

Handmade Christmas Card 2014 - Design 3

Hello. This is my third Christmas Card for the year 2014. You can view my other Christmas cards here.

This card is based on a sketch which I have worked with previously too. I have used miscellaneous papers from various Paper Mania paper stacks. The holly leaves are punched out and I used golden beads for the berries from my stash.

Handmade Christmas Card 2014 - Design 2

Hello folks! Over the next few days, I will be sharing a Holiday Card each day. The layout used is similar to the one I had made previously [Link here].

I think this layout is really easy to work with and great for mass production too. I have used various embellishments here -  a chipboard poinsettia, handcut glitter foam holly leaf, few rhinestones and a sticker sentiment.

Hope you like my simple card. Stay tuned to see a new Holiday card, every day, for the next few days. You may like to see all my Christmas Cards here.

Handmade Christmas Cards 2014 - Design 1

Taking a cue from Jennifer Mcguire, I tried using my stamp in a different way to create this card. I stamped the leaf bunch multiple times to create a leafy vine. For the berries,  I inked up a round foam and stamped with it.

The stamp set used is Penny Black 30-140 Christmas Cheer Clear Stamp. I have used three stamps from this stamp set for the card.

Magic Exploding Box - Christmas theme

Hi all. I have been really wanting to share so many projects that I created over last few weeks, but work is really keeping me busy. Also I recently had an Art Exhibiotn in office, where I showcased my stuff. So was partly busy with that as well.

I have missed many of your posts and challenges. Hopefully, will catch up soon.

Today I am sharing a magic explosion box and card made on Christmas theme.

Here is a look at the box first...
The inside of the box..... is has space to stick photographs and to write messages on small tags in pockets.

The center of the box has a glued gift box with some chipboard gift boxes and snowflakes around it. There is also a tiny Xmas tree that I picked up from the local market.
And here is the card..It is based on a sketch from Clean and Simple Stamping blog.
Hope you like my gift set.
P.S. I have added word verificatio for comments as lately I have been getting lot of spam messages on my blog. If there is any other way to stop that, please do suggest.

Waterfall card for Christmas

Hi. This is my 2nd waterfall card made for Christmas. Thanks Neha Gala for sharing this link to Dawn's site. I never thought they were so easy and addictive!! The snowflakes are digis. I have used them in my other Christmas card here as well.
When you pull the botton flap, where the ribbon is tied, the pictures start opening up beautifully :) Here's the second one..
 Third one...
Last one... You can use the empty space on the inner side of the bottom flap to add a sentiment or any other surprise element. I did that for the first waterfall card that I made for my DH bday. Will share that one soon :)
Really loved this technique. They are so much fun and quick to make.
Hope you like my card. Happy Crafting!

Poinsettia flower with Satin ribbon

Hi friends!! Today I want to share with you a tutorial for making poinsettia flowers with satin ribbon. I had learned this from a lady in Assam, when I was in Std X. I love the way these flowers look.
I had made this hanging flowers bouquet with this technique, long back.
Also see my tin can luminaries project posted today where I used these flowers.

Now, onto the tutorial (P.S. This is a picture heavy post)
1. Take the broad satin ribbon which we easily get in craft stores. The effect with the double shaded ones is much better, but since I wanted to make poinsettias, I have used bright red color.
2. Trace the petal shape onto the ribbon and cut them. You will need 7 petals for one flower.
3. Make lines on the petals using hot knife.
4. Take craft wire and wrap it with green tape. Cut the wires a little longer than the petals and glue them to the back of the petals as shown.
5. Once the glue dries, take 7 flower centers, and fold them. Take one petal at a time, bending them backwards and start adhering them around the flower center, one by one with thread.
6. Tie 3 petals at first, for the top layer. Then layer the rest of the petals below them.
The wire makes it easy to bend and place the petals in any form.
Use the flowers for decoration or as embellishments for your projects. You can make leaves also in similar way with green ribbon.
Hope you like the tutorial :)
Please drop in a comment in case you have any queries regarding this. I will answer them in this post later.

Happy crafting!!

CAS Christmas Card

Ok so here is my CAS card for Xmas. The sentiment is a digi. The holy leaves are handcut from handmade paper. The special element of this card is the border that I have used. Can you guess what it is??
Well, have you seen this design on a certificate? Yes, it is cut out from a certificate, somewhat like the one here...
I didn't cut any of mine, but I found one in office lying as scrap.
I loved the border and used it on my card :)

Christmas Ornaments card

Heya!! I am on a Christmas cards making spree especially with my newly purchased PPs.
I loved these Xmas ornaments on a card I saw on net and wanted to make my version of them. I didn't have any cutter or punch of this shape, so I roughly drew on a paper scrap and altered the shape till it was as I wanted. Then used it as a template for the main one for the card.
Hope you like the card. Isn't the li'l penguin so adorable!!

Happy Holidays

Its 1st Dec today and the holiday season has set in :) So here is my holiday card.
The colors and not the usual christmas colors and that's why I liked the card a lot. The PP was a RAK by Paru, The snowman and sentiment are digis. The snowflakes are punched. The laces are from my stash. I colored the snowman using Faber Castell watercolor pencils.
Hope you like my card :)

Wreaths

I loved making wreaths since childhood and after a long time I got down to making not 1 but 2 of them at the same time.
I have used the plastic seal of the 20 litre Bisleri water bottle to make the wreaths on.
One of the wreaths is on Christmas theme while the other on Fall.
Have a sneak peek and do let me know which one you like more :)
 Back view
 Behind the scenes....
I wrapped the ring with brown tape for the fall wreath and green one for the other.
Some tid bits from my discarded pot pouri.
 Assembled them together...
 And here we go...
The other wreath is on Christmas theme. I made quilled poinsettias and holy leaves for this. The bells are also quilled.

 Happy crafting!
