Mega Celebration Event no 2 - Guest Challenge

Hi there! Hope you have registered for the 1st event in the mega celebrations on my blog, i.e. my blog candy. More and more yummy stuff is going to be added to the candy, so don't miss it.

And welcome to the 2nd event today. I have a Guest Challenge for you by none other than the very very talented crafter, who is loved by the whole blogger community, and whose designs are an envy for all - Priya Sondhi from Priya and Papers blog .
I have a long association with her as we studied in grad college together and needless to say, I am so so proud of her work.

Over to Priya.....

"Hi all! When my dear friend invited me to set a challege, I just couldn't say no in spite of my busy schedule.. So here is my challenge for you.. A color challenge... Make any project using 3 colors i.e. Pink, White and a splash of black.. and yes when I say color challenge it means these colors should be the dominant ones on your creation... You can make anything a card, box, photoframe, or just about anything.. Since its Indu's celebrations, you can do some recycling too to impress her ;)..
Thanks a lot Indu for inviting me.. :) May you have many more glorious years to celebrate your success in whatever you do... And I hope everyone will join in.. There are lot many goodies to be won! "
Here is the inspiration from Priya
Thanks so much Priya........ and the inspirational card is gorgeous!! So girls, get started with your projects!!

The challenge will close on 12th July midnight. The winner will be chosen by Priya.
The prize for this challenge is being sponsored by Pie Lane.
Here is what Sri and Ton from Pie Lane have to say: "Pie Lane was started in 2007 as an east meet west venture. We started off with embellishments purely for the European market. Luckily, it occurred to both of us to make hobby craft much more than an export venture and we have been focusing on the Indian market for the last two years. The journey is TOUGH. There is so much for us to learn, so much awareness we have to create and it never feels like we have been working on Pie Lane for over five years. Its seems like we just started and we are, but, novices in this field.
But, its a very rewarding journey as we make for real life clients. People we connect with, who give feedback and have integrated into the Pie Lane family :)"

And here is the yummy stuff from Pie Lane up for grabs!! I am a BIG fan of their products. You can see all my cards made using Pie Lane stuff here.
Rules to be followed:
  1. Please link directly to your post and not your blog
  2. You can link to any no. of challenges you like
  3. Do link back to this challenge in your post
  4. No backlinking. Only new projects will be eligible to win
  5. You can create any kind of craft project

Faux window card

Hi All. Here is a simple faux window card that I made recently. The colored tiles used here are from the brochure of a paints company. The ribbon is from my stash and the blue border is from Itsy Bitsy. The flowers used for embelishment is a RAK which one of my friends got for me from UK. The CS is a local buy.
Also taking this opportunity to share information about a fab giveaway from my friend Jaya. She celebrated her birthday yesterday and is offering a wonderful handmade Mini book amongst other things in the giveaway. Do check out the deets here.

Pastel Easel Card

Heyy all! I have been waiting to post this card since the day I made it. I don't plan my cards so I was really happy the way it came out. All the elements kind of gelled so well with each other.
The CS is from Pie Lane. The PP is from Paper Mania.  I have used a doily on the upper half and lined it with lace. The white flowers are also special as they are made from the same lace. The blue mulberry flowers are from Ujjwal's store. The peach colored cherry blossoms were actually on a tag that came along with a candle. I have reused them here.  The sentiment and flower stickers next to it is from Itsy Bitsy.
Erum had illustrated how to make these flowers. You may like to have a look at her tutorial here...

Here's today's freebie for you. Do check out the rest in my Freebies/Templates section and link back to my blog in case you happen to use any of them.

Quilled Border Card 1

Hi All!! TGIF!! I just realised my previous post was the 250th post on my blog!! Wow! Celebrations are in order! I am planning a big one soon. So keep watching.....
I am here to post a card that (can you believe??) I started around this time of last year. Completed it in bits and pieces. Actually I struck upon this idea of making quilled borders on cards and started out with four cards together. Each has a slightly different border. Then the challenge was to embellish the center portion. So it kept lagging behind. So finally here I post the first of the series today.
The top paper is from a magazine. The "Friends" sentiment is a colored digi.
A closer look at the border.....
It's freebie time today. Since the card is about friends, I designed a sentiment on friendship. To download the image, right click and Save As. Keep checking my Freebies/Templates section for more and let me know your feedback about this.

Card set

I find it very useful to make two cards together at a time, similar in look but may be in different colors. This way you don't have to repeat the efforts needed to make that card and in the end you get two similar looking cards.
So here is a set I made few days back. It is a very simple card. I have used PPs on one side and punched them to string the ribbon. I then stamped the branch on top right and glued punched flowers on it. All the cards differ only in color and sentiment. The sentiment stamp is from Jovi's store.
You can see my other card sets by clicking on the Cards set label.

Mother's Day Card

Hi All, sharing another Mother's Day card that I made yesterday. It is a really simple one. I wanted to weave the ribbons by punching holes in the card and use it on my card. So here is what I came up with. The sentiment is a digi. The PPs are from Mallika, which she had sent for a pattern papers swap. The ribbon is a local buy. I punched flowers in assorted colors to match the PP. Hope you like it :)

Card for Mom

Hey all! How are you doing? I had a rather dull weekend as I was quite unwell. So what better spending it making a card for the most special person in your life! Mother's day is around the corner. In India it falls on the second Sunday of May.
No prizes for guessing who the inspiration for this quilled lettering is!!! Yes, Dr. Pritesh!!! I am in awe of her work and more so when I met her in person last week in Pune. She is an amazing person: juggles so many things together at a time!! Thanks for sharing your wonderful work with us!! Do visit Pritesh's blog for a tute on quilled lettering.

Front view of the card. Size is 5x7"
Another view....
Today's freebie is the font I used for this card. Have fun!!
